Oh Hey, I'm Edward. Once upon a time: a bisexual, former-heroin-addict-hipster told me that I was "kinda fabulous," so this blog is about the reality and struggle of being "kindafabulous" (as well as "BEAUTIFUL, BLACK, PRECIOUS, AND COMPLICATED").

Diablo Cody on Why We're All Narcissists

When I crowned myself “President of the Narcissistic Whore’s Club” sometime ago, this idea of “we’re all narcissists”-is almost the exact idea I had in mind.

The modern concept of casual narcissism-explored by Diablo Cody on this brief article on her film, Young Adult, is what I always think of when I refer to myself as a “narcissist.” Moreover, I also think of our modern cultural tendency to overshare via social media, documenting everything about our lives for others to see as mini-documentary; so we can indulge and enjoy ourselves (and others)-as cumulative examples of this casual narcissism. We, of the internet blogging/social media-savvy sphere, are all essentially (virtual) narcissists.

By healthily acknowledging this narcissism and treating the meaning of this as ultimately insignificant, where productivity and healthy creativity are always the main goal-I feel that this stereotypically, freshman psych-101 term can be converted from pejorative to positive. And then ends justify the means. So in this spirit-I’d like to say that I love me, I love y’all, and I love me some Diablo Cody.
