Q: wow is that toning all from yoga? as a recent yoga convert, do you I could substitute power yoga for other cardio/toning exercises?
A:
I do spinning, cardio (ellipticals), hiking, some light weight lifting, and yoga. The reason I haven’t lost major LBz yet is because I haven’t really disciplined myself on my eating habits. Playing football for over 8 years, I still eat like I’m burning 5,000 calories a day, and I’m not, so that’s kind of a problem. Eating is such a HUGE part of losing weight, and that’s my biggest struggle. I just love food though! I can’t even help myself. To offset my terrible eating habits, I stay pretty active, hence all the various workouts.
I will say that power yoga is awesome, and I also love Hatha and Vinyasa Flow for strength and spirituality purposes. As a strategy, I like to do all my different workouts and exercises in conjunction with each other so that I can maximize the effects. For example, when I don’t do yoga, I get too bulky (I’m naturally kind of short and stocky so I’ll bulk up quick), so I try to do the weights and yoga and cardio all throughout the same week. That’s the best combination I think. Then again-I’m in no way shape or form an expert on any of this-it’s just what I do. I say do yoga and do cardio and try doimg another form of cardio on top of all that.
Hope that helps.
