From Shade to Shame.
File this post under the “human and flawed” category. Have you guys ever accidentally thrown so much shade at someone-you basically dimmed the entire block with your shade? In fact, at the time of said block-dimming, you were wearing shades in a literal, non-metaphoric way. And you felt entirely vindicated in your shade-until the recipient of that shade turned around and was so appallingly nice and gracious to you-that your shade turned to shame.
I’m so embarrassed right now, because I was so busy rolling my eyes (underneath my Tom Fords) at this cute dude, who ordered several items indecisively and languidly at Starbucks for him and his cute boyfriend, that when he turned around and apologized for taking so long and being so indecisive-my shade inverted itself back onto me. And I stood there-dumbfounded-feeling mortified at being such a cunt (apologies for the word-use but it felt appropriate to describe my behavior). And I realized that shade can just as quickly turn into shame if used and abused inappropriately.

Being able to admit to that is a huge thing that a lot of people won’t do. It’s so valuable to actually learn from those moments rather than always being a sucky person. Good on you Ed. I’ve done this once or twice. :(
